Each vehicle is designed by the Xpeditionz team, drawing on our unique experience of cross-continent 4WD expeditions worldwide. Our vehicles are fitted with the same expedition-grade equipment Xpeditionz supplies to customers building their own no-compromise touring vehicles. Our fleet represents some of the only genuinely top-tier, overland-equipped 4WDs in the country.
The camping systems fitted to our fleet are held to the same expedition standard. Our roof tents and awnings are genuine world expedition-grade equipment — locally branded, re-badged generic products commonly found elsewhere don’t make the cut for our premium vehicles. Instead, our fleet is equipped exclusively with world-class expedition tents and awnings from leading South African brands — the same equipment trusted and used by serious overlanders on long-range, real-world expeditions. The result is durability, performance and comfort well beyond what is typically offered in New Zealand.

With a premium, expedition-grade camping fit-out and vehicles engineered for extended off-grid stays, this is an experience defined as much by where you stop as by where you drive.
Whether travelling solo or as part of a small group, this offering is for those drawn to the solitude of New Zealand’s South Island backcountry — places so remote that even many Kiwis will never experience them, or even know they exist. Time spent in true wilderness, away from noise and distraction, has a powerful restorative effect on wellbeing and mental clarity.
This isn’t about constant motion. It’s about turning off the ignition, setting up camp, and spending time immersed in extraordinary surroundings. Our vehicles have the capability to reach locations that campervans and conventional touring vehicles simply cannot — and to remain there for extended periods, fully off-grid and entirely self-sufficient.

Xpeditionz can accommodate guided or supported options, tailored entirely to the level of assistance you’re comfortable with. For those new to 4WD travel, we’ll show you the fundamentals, help you build confidence, and provide guidance on terrain, recovery and vehicle operation. If required, we can also provide support or recovery during the journey.
At your destination, the experience remains yours. Your guide can be as present or as unobtrusive as you prefer — from remaining nearby, to leaving you completely alone to enjoy the solitude. The level of involvement is entirely up to you.

Each vehicle is equipped with substantial 12V and 240V power capacity — nearly enough to support a small household — allowing you to run laptops, camera equipment and other essentials entirely off-grid. Vehicles can also be specified with options such as Starlink connectivity and even premium extras like a quality espresso machine, enabling you to work online from virtually anywhere in New Zealand while remaining immersed in remote wilderness.
