Quick Pitch Weathershade MAXX Awning
Quick Pitch Weathershade — the global benchmark.
It costs a little more than awnings from Darche, Rhino Rack and most others, but the step up in materials quality and freestanding performance is unmistakable.
MAXX is a gross understatement!
The regular 270-degree version already dwarfs competitors with 12.1sqm of coverage — the MAXX boasts a massive 15 square metres of coverage, by far the largest 270° awning on the market.
Is Bigger Always Better?
We still recommend the Weathershade 270 as the ideal size and shape for the typical 4WD owner. But if you’re outfitting a larger vehicle — such as a caravan, bus, or vanlife conversion — the MAXX is unbeatable.
A True Game Changer
Internationally acclaimed, Quick Pitch Weathershade awnings redefine what’s possible for NZ outdoor gear, standing head and shoulders above what’s been available locally until now.

Superior Materials & Performance
Premium South African technical canvas topped with an aluminised reflective layer
Outperforms common polyester, Oxford, 900D, or lower grade canvas awnings found in NZ
The aluminised layer effectively reflects heat and UV radiation — keeping you noticeably cooler beneath the awning on hot summer days
Engineered for Strength & Convenience
Heavy-duty 6mm thick double-action stainless steel hinge delivers unmatched freestanding strength
Reinforced, welded rafter arms for durability
Includes two drop-down legs for extra stability if weather conditions deteriorate
Neatly integrated tie-down straps in rafter arms for quick and secure ground anchoring when needed
Built for All Weather Conditions
Equipped with a pitch rod to encourage rainwater runoff and prevent ponding
Multiple guy points on the awning frame and canvas enhance rain drainage and wind stability
Optional Superior Canvas Wall Set
Zips in for secure attachment (not velcro)
Made from high-quality South African woven 400gsm polycotton canvas — impressively thick and breathable
Avoids the “greenhouse effect” common with cheaper polyester, Oxford, or 900D fabric walls
Features a 370mm PVC storm strip at the bottom, protecting the canvas while accommodating various vehicle heights
The storm strip also enables setup on tricky terrain like sand or rocks by weighting down the flaps where pegging isn’t possible
Important Safety Notes
Quick Pitch awnings offer one of the world’s strongest designs for freestanding awnings — but in high winds, always use sensible judgment. Wall panels should be taken down before the awning itself to prevent wind damage.

Caution
We can get up to 200km/hr winds in NZ. Even the strongest awning on market (which we believe this is) will be shredded by those kind of extreme conditions. Always apply common sense and either appropriately secure the awning when conditions dictate, or stow it away completely if wind becomes severe.
